TWAIN Scanning

In addition to all supported large and small format scanners, PixEdit allows you to access TWAIN supported scanners. TWAIN is an open industry interface that provides a common language between your application and a scanner. Make sure that PixEdit defaults to TWAIN by using the SELECT SCANNER option from the SCAN menu.

With TWAIN, you can access many of the scanners otherwise not supported by PixEdit. For detailed instructions on scanning with your specific scanner, refer to the Owner’s manual accompanying your scanner. PixEdit allows you to configure how your scanned pages (before, after or replace options) from the TWAIN driver should be inserted into PixEdit. The Second pass of double sided scan option is useful for inserting the back side of each page after every second page already scanned. This provides a solution to perform double sided scanning on scanners not supporting this feature. Different parameters are available before starting the scanner. For details about threshold, contrast, halftone and other settings, click on the HELP button or refer to your scanner manual. PixEdit automatically detects the type of installed scanner, and enables/disables various options depending on scanner model.

As with all supported scanners in PixEdit, the image is displayed as the data arrives from the scanner and is directly available for editing and/or cleanup as soon as the scanning process is completed. PixEdit supports storage to multi-page formats, as well as full duplex scanning even when the scanner itself only supports simplex mode.
